LUKE LITTLER CHAMPION OF THE WORLD



 Luke Littler had stated before the PDC World Darts Championship final that if he won he would go into hiding. “I will go far away, where no one can find me”. Well, he can go and look for a hiding place, if he had not already planned to do so, because he has become world champion by beating 35-year-old Michael Van Gerwen from the Netherlands in the final of the Alexandra Palace, the 'cathedral' of darts, snooker and other basically British modalities. He is 18 ahead of Littler, who at the age of 17 has become one of the idols of British sport. Van Gerwen became world champion in 2014, 2017 and 2019. The fame was already there. In the last year, his name has been more searched on the internet in the UK than that of King Charles III or Keir Starmer, the British Prime Minister. Starmer was among the first to congratulate him.
